Introduction:
Welcome to the Coach Krissy self-love fitness community, where we celebrate the diverse and authentic meaning of health. We embrace healthy at every size and remind ourselves that we are not just this body, but also, a mind and a spirit wrapped up into a beautiful body, and we must nourish all parts for ultimate health and wellbeing.
In a world fixated on external appearances, the numbers on the scale, and quick “fixes”, the true essence of health extends far beyond the surface. Health is about cultivating a holistic sense of wellbeing that encompasses the physical, mental, spiritual and emotional facets of our lives. In this blog post, we explore the genuine face of health, urging you to embrace self-love and prioritize overall wellbeing
- Beyond the Mirror:
- True health extends far beyond the reflection we see in the mirror. It’s about feeling strong, energetic, and vibrant. Our bodies are all unique, and the path to health involves embracing our individuality rather than conforming to unrealistic societal expectations. Let’s shift the focus from external appearances to the joy of nourishing our bodies and appreciating the incredible things they allow us to do.
- Mind, Body, Spirit Connection:
- Health isn’t just a physical state—it’s a holistic experience that encompasses the mind, body, and spirit. As a self-love fitness coach, I encourage you to explore the connection between mental well-being and physical health.
- Practices like mindfulness, self-compassion, and gratitude are essential components of a truly healthy lifestyle. Remember, these are “practices” because it is something you have to intentionally do over and over and over again to make it a natural part of your life. Be patient and keep practicing. You are worth the effort.
- Fitness as Self-Love (Not as Punishment):
- Exercise becomes a powerful expression of self-love and self-care when it’s rooted in joy and fulfillment. Say goodbye to punishing workouts driven by external pressures. Embrace activities that bring you happiness, whether it’s dancing, weightlifting, hiking, or practicing yoga. When fitness is a celebration of what your body can achieve, it becomes a sustainable and enjoyable part of your life.
- Diverse Paths to Wellness:
- Healthy really looks like a kaleidoscope of choices, not a one-size-fits-all solution. There are countless paths to wellness, and your journey is uniquely yours. Let go of comparison and embrace the practices that resonate with your body and lifestyle. Whether you’re a yoga enthusiast, a runner, or someone who loves weightlifting, your chosen path is a reflection of self-love.
- For me wellness includes things like meditation, reading, weightlifting, yoga, running, cooking, hanging out with friends that love and support me, walking and being out in nature, and being creative and artistic to name a few. To find what healthy looks like for me took time, patience, and some trial and error. I added one habit at a time and eased into a beautiful rhythm that works for me and my life. Do the same thing for yourself. Personally, I started with fitness, then added more mindfulness practices, then reading, and so on.
- Breaking Free from Stereotypes:
- Let’s challenge the stereotypes that equate health with a specific body shape or size. Health exists in bodies of all shapes and sizes. It’s about nourishing ourselves, feeling good in our skin, and embracing the journey toward holistic wellbeing. By breaking free from stereotypes, we create a space for everyone to thrive on their terms.
- Nourishing Your Body with Love:
- Rather than viewing food as a mere source of fuel, consider it a form of self-love, nourishment, and connection. Shift your mindset towards choosing foods that fuel your body AND make you feel good. This approach fosters a positive relationship with food, free from guilt or restrictive tendencies.
- Also, connect to your body when you eat. Feel your hunger, and your fullness. Can we all agree the “clean plate club” is more harmful than a badge of “honor.” Let’s choose to tune into our bodies instead of forcing ourselves to eat all the food and instead when we are comfortably full we can save it and eat it again when we are actually hungry.
- This is another skill that many of us, myself included, have to learn. Give yourself grace, patience, and compassion as you learn this skill, and tune into the experience of nourishing your body with love.
